These are some really great resources for the Social Studies classes at San Marcos High School:

ABC-Clio databases (also available from the SMHS library web page) have primary sources (photos, documents,cartoon, maps) as well as general information on world history, U.S. history, and American government. Use the user name and passwords provided by the school.
Local and international news:
- CNN International edition has the latest updates from around the world
- CNN US edition has the latest news updates from the United States
US Election sites:
- To find out about local elections, registering to vote, etc go to the SB County Elections site
- This site has all things 2008 election including electoral college maps, etc
- Livingroom Candidate has campaign ads from 1952 to the present (blocked at SMHS)
- The Electoral College is confusing. This site has interactive maps, etc.
- Think you can do a better job than the President at balancing the budget? Give this a try!
- Editorial cartoons always play a big role in elections
- Ballotopia. A site about ballot measures in California
- Ballot Measure database. Choose California and you can find out about all the issues for this election
- Secrets such as money spent, fundraising efforts, etc
- CNN Election Center covers all general information to do with the election
- Gallup is one of the most respected polls
- If you are interested in polling in general, this is a good site
